I'm off to Barcelona in a few weeks for one of my very good friend's hen do, and I absolutely can't wait! I've never been on a girls holiday before so I am literally like a child at Christmas at the prospect of this upcoming weekend!
However one slight glitch in the whole thing is my severe lack of funds! When you choose to be a stay at home mummy, you make a sacrifice to have...well, any money! This means we scraped together the money to book the trip but money for nice new clothes was not part of the deal (so my other half says!). I've been ebaying old clothes that don't fit etc like a mad woman in the last week just to create a bit of spending money and hopefully I will be able to stretch to a nice new something or two for my trip! I'm not holding out a great deal of hope though!
So when you have an 'event' to dress for, but little funds to fund it what's the best way of getting round this? Luckily the weather so far seems to be on my side with this! I struggle to find dresses that I can be comfortable in as a day dress and a night dress. I only seem to find dresses to suit one of the two, not both. So with the spring now here I've decided the best way round this is a play suit! The right sort would mean I could wear it with flip flops in the day and with some nice heels and accessories at night! Bingo!
So I've been browsing and drooling over some lovely ones (plus a few sneaky extra's!) what do you think?

My favourite pair of gold trimmed gladiator style flip flops also are in need of a successor, and I find New Look are the best for flip flops. As much as I love those gorgeous £2.50 primark flip flops that come in every colour under the sun, I don't always find them very comfortable so aside from buying the primark ones as staple footwear pieces, I will deffinately be investing in some nice new flip flops! These ones I found I quite like, what do you think?

I've also realised after gutting out my wardrobe that I've got lots of 'bottoms' whether it's jeans and leggings or shorts and skirts, and need to focus on some nice tops for the warmer weather. For some reason I'm not very good at buying tops, I stick to basics, nothing too bright or daring will come home with me no matter how much I love it. I guess I lack top-confidence! But I did find these two beautiful tops from Miss Selfridge which would look good dressed up or down and be perfect for my body shape!

As a Mummy with not as much spare cash to spend on clothes two of my favourite brands are Miss Selfridge and New Look, no longer for young girls, both brands have shed this images and now offer style to people of older ages too and their prices are much more afforable to me! So if anyone has a spare nearly £150 for me to treat myself to these beauties then you know where to send it! *points finger at herself*
What are you eyeing up for your summer wardrobe and where do you shop now you're a mummy?
Love Chloe xx
I do like these Chloe- especially the first playsuit. I could never wear it myself, but it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI tend to buy in charity shops. We live near Woodstock and there are always some designer bargains to be had!
Have a wonderful trip!! x
I really love that black ruffle playsuit! wish I had the body/confidence/money to wear it though! x
ReplyDeleteLove those playsuits! I had never really thought of getting one of those, but maybe I will now, for the summer. Where I live, everyone looks sooooo glamorous all the time, so I often have the 'oh my god I don't have anything to wear' moments. I always find that a good fitting pair of jeans (cropped for summer) and a couple of pretty tops sorts things out (for a while anyway). Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteI love that first playsuit- you must must buy it!
ReplyDeleteI need a whole new wardrobe for this summer as I was pregnant last year, but can't really afford a lot so I'm just going for a nice pair of jeans, lots of different colours plain vests and t shirts (stuff I don't mind being puked on- thanks Isaac!) and then jazzing them up with accessories. The baby loves my big bulky necklaces at the moment so it's win win! Have a fab time! x
I love all of these! I need to win the lottery to afford all of my clothes I need!!xxxx
